On October 15th, 2023, at approximately 4:00 AM, a fire alarm was triggered in the Governors Complex due to a suspected gas leak. Residents were evacuated and relocated to the Natural Sciences Complex for safety. Subsequent investigations revealed that an unknown individual had attempted to start a fire on a stove in a third-floor kitchen. A staff member intervened before the items left on the stove ignited, but the building's fire alarm system was still activated.<ref name=":0">https://www.ubspectrum.com/article/2023/11/governors-kitchen-reopened-after-arson-attempt</ref>
